Lester’s figurative sculpture begs to be touched. Heavy on lustful curves and granite-carved abdominals, rounded female bottoms and Adonistic shoulders, it heaves with rude health and juicy sexuality.
In his own words, Lester admits a penchant for “…sex, bottoms and history…” and takes his cue from classical Greek and Roman sculpture, injecting his own brand of contemporary zing into his work. He enjoys interaction when working, simultaneously holding a conversation on the merits of leading a Bohemian lifestyle whilst up to his elbows in clay and keeping a watchful eye on the antics of his son, Oliver, another burgeoning sculpting talent in Mills fold.
Lester is an instantly recognisable face around Leigh thanks equally to his position as Chairman of the Leigh Art Trail and his immutable cult-leader image!
